 Crystal Cuff Brown Ostrich Bracelet

(Early 1800s Crystal Cuff Bracelet on Brown Ostrich Cuff)

From the beginnings of arranging beautiful antiques into stunning displays, to the new generation of creating and designing using inspiration from the past or antique elements within the designs, Laurel Ridge creates products and an experience like no place in the world.

Over the last five years, and possibly longer, Barbara has been designing 'Laurel Ridge Exclusive' Lynn Haney Santas with Lynn himself. The results have been sensational, and hugely popular, due to the way that our wonderful customers and friends are cleaved to our store, the house that Laurel Ridge calls home (and in which Barbara's mother raised half the town, but that is a story for another day!) and the extraordinary products we offer.

When I arrived home during the Christmas rush of last year, I was blown away with how the store, and our customers reaction to the products that Barbara was designing had evolved. They loved the custom made pieces of jewelry that she was designing using antique elements set into chains or crafted into sterling silver and freshwater pearls (Antique Buttons, Antique Horse Bridle Rosettes, Victorian Picture Nails and many other things), and why not, they are exquisite pieces of "wearable history".

It made sense, therefore, for us to be on the look out for any other antique elements that we could have custom crafted to our designs by local craftsmen.

And then we stumbled across these beautiful crystal boot buckles from the late 1700s and early 1800s. Wow! They were stunning on their own, but .... oh, we had bigger plans for them.

A friend of ours (well, Laurel Ridge family really) knew a local boots maker, who lovingly made by hand, six ostrich bands, in black and brown, including invisible magnetic clasps, which, when combined with the buckles, created the most beautiful cuff bracelets that we have ever laid our eyes upon!

Of course, the success of these cuff bracelets has got our minds wrapped around the next designs, and what we can develop to include more leather and other exotic skins.

Today, however, I am delighted with the beauty of these custom made and custom designed pieces of "wearable history".
